DESCRIPTION:Join us at Mt. Cuba!\nThe Elusive Bog Turtle (And Friends) \nIn this 1-hour presentation\, Amy will share her knowledge of the Bog Turtle including its habitat requirements\, threats\, the types of investigations that are often legally required for a variety of land disturbance activities\, the regulations in place to protect the species and their potential effects on land development projects. Key identifying taxonomic characteristics of the other semi-aquatic turtles that share their wetland habitat will also be covered. \nThe presentation will end with a short hike to the ponds to look for basking turtles\, wetland plants\, and\, (if there’s time and interest)\, a demonstration of radio-telemetry; a technique using transmitters that emit radio pulses used to track the movements of individual turtles with a directional antenna. Please wear shoes appropriate for walking on the paved and well-maintained paths and trails of Mt Cuba. \n\nDate: October 17\, 2024\nLocation: Mt.
